FLORENCE ELEMENTARY
Students are more than a name at Florence ISD, a small but mighty school district where teachers and staff get to know each and every student. District leaders work to ensure students take part in robust academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs, feeding growth of the whole child. Texas proud, the district is recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture for participating in the Farm Fresh Challenge, serving a variety of locally grown produce. Parent and community support helps the district focus on serving the individual needs of each student as it works to help them achieve their full potential.
Florence ISD knows that what is put into a child’s body is just as important as what is put into a child’s mind, that’s why the district makes it a priority to serve a wholesome, well-rounded mix of breakfast and lunch items — much of which is locally sourced. For years, the district has been a participant in the USDA’s Farm to School program and has been awarded by both the USDA and the Texas Department of Agriculture for incorporating homegrown and healthy foods in its school and summer meal programs.
