Get to Know Georgetown ISD — Newly Available to Nolina Residents
Parents like Georgetown ISD, and for good reason.
Despite its growth, the school district is known for its small-town ambiance, delivering personalized education to meet students’ individual needs. High school students have a variety of options as they prepare for life beyond 12th grade, with dual credit courses in core subjects allowing students to receive college credit while still in high school. The academically challenging Advanced Placement courses also allow students to receive college credit.
Students can also receive hands-on training through Career and Technology Education (CTE) classes held at the Future Ready Complex. The many CTE courses cover nine fields:
Advanced Engineering
Audio/Video Production
Automotive
Aviation
Cosmetology
Culinary Arts
Drones
Health Science
Rocketry
Beyond academics, students can find their passions by participating in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Not only can athletes play the customary football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and cross country, but they can also develop skills in golf, tennis, wrestling and more. For those who prefer the stage over the field, Georgetown offers a robust fine arts program, including visual art, band, orchestra, choir, dance, theater, technical theater, and other programs. In fact, 75 percent of Georgetown ISD students are enrolled in a fine arts program.
Students are also earning recognition at high levels. In April, three SeaPerch teams have advanced to international competition for their underwater remotely operated vehicles. A Georgetown ISD’s StellarXplorers team was one of just 10 across the nation to qualify for the StellarXplorers national competition this spring after solving orbit determination, satellite design, and launch operations scenarios in a series of online rounds. Teachers and coaches are also winning awards, with Coach Jeremy Kline named UIL State and Section Coach of the Year for Boys’ Swimming & Diving earlier this year.
Behind the many advanced curriculum and exciting programs are teachers and staff dedicated to helping students learn, grow, and thrive. The district employs more than 2,100 staff members, and nearly 50 percent of teachers have more than 10 years of teaching experience. Twenty-five percent hold advanced degrees.
Residents of Nolina and the surrounding area can now benefit from this exceptional district. Earlier this year, Georgetown ISD trustees voted to open enrollment to those who live outside the district. Find out more about the process here and how Georgetown ISD can help brighten your child’s future.
